Tomato.

Warm, familiar, almost domestic —
the scent of kitchens, summers, and hands stained red by memory.

With House of Polpa, Mutti and Mapei transformed the most ordinary object imaginable —
a can of tomato pulp —
into architecture. 

Not monumental architecture.
Not cold architecture.

But something alive.

Twenty thousand red cans rose beneath the arches
like a temporary cathedral of nourishment,
their metallic skins catching the light
until the entire structure glowed.

Ντομάτα.

Ζεστή, οικεία, σχεδόν καθημερινή —
η μυρωδιά των κουζινών, των καλοκαιριών και των χεριών βαμμένων κόκκινων από μνήμη.

Με το House of Polpa, η Mutti και η Mapei μετέτρεψαν το πιο συνηθισμένο αντικείμενο που μπορεί κανείς να φανταστεί —
μια κονσέρβα τοματοπολτού —
σε αρχιτεκτονική.

Όχι μνημειακή αρχιτεκτονική.
Όχι ψυχρή αρχιτεκτονική.

Αλλά κάτι ζωντανό.

Είκοσι χιλιάδες κόκκινες κονσέρβες υψώθηκαν κάτω από τις στοές
σαν έναν προσωρινό καθεδρικό ναό τροφής,
με τις μεταλλικές τους επιφάνειες να αιχμαλωτίζουν το φως
μέχρι που ολόκληρη η κατασκευή έλαμψε.
